Well if we tell you how to design it, it won't be your design. My advice is forget about it until you see something that inspires you. when that happens jot down the ideas and turn them into a skin.
You can't force it or it will be crap.
Have a look through some skins from some of the great skinners like Heizer, TeazR, schuppor, Maggot on Master skinners. They may give you some ideas.

I'm a big fan of the natural finishes - tung oil necks are lovely too, I've built a few from scratch and like to use Tung oil on the necks.
One good mod for strats as well as the different pup selection is extending the 2nd tone ctrl to the bridge pup as well, to take the harsh bite out of it. It's only one wire to solder in and it makes the whole tone a lot more versatile.

I have no problem with Demo users asking for more content.
It's just the ones that start bitchin' when they receive the answer; "No you can't, if you want more, then please pay for the licence and get the full game" that I have a problem with. Then we end up going down the old and well-trodden path of justifying why some people think the current demo content is not enough and some think it's already too much, and how many more people would be attracted into the full game if demo users were given just one more car or track, and how many more wouldn't be bothered cos they are fully satisfied with the free content available.

....but there was a skin released with this design maybe 2 years ago when we ran lfs-files, so nicely done (though to me entirely tasteless!) but not original. Some of you will remember the original one caught a lot of flak as some of the softer members of the community found it immensely offensive.

We want to know the details! What pot values (before and after) + cap values? Did you start off with the stock 250K vol & tone pots?
Did you swap linear for log on the vol?

You have to import the wireframe layer onto your skin paint layer and set the blend mode to multiply so the wireframes appear superimposed onto your skin/paint layer. Think of it as laying some transparent tracing paper over your paint layer. You can then paint on the paint layer (not the wireframe layer) using the wireframe lines as a guide to get the paint in the right place.
If this is a bit confusing, then spend a little time googling photoshop tutorials - basic stuff like working with layers and setting layer blend modes, and it will all become very clear and straightforward to you.

Thank god for that.

the game uses jpg and dds format textures which are basically flat, so no layering possible. if you limit to clever use of black & white you can sometimes get round some of the issues.

Yep, on a psd layer, part of Bunta's skinning template kit.

But for the XRT and a couple of wide stripes you can just about eyeball it and get it close enough.

Create a new folder on your desktop. Unpack the rar file contents into the new folder.
Open photoshop. Then use photoshop to open the psd file in the folder you just unpacked the rar into.
